About Spike Feldman and the Debut Album

Spike Feldman is a multi-genre songwriter, guitarist, arranger, and vocalist from Beverly, Massachusetts. He has been writing rock, folk, bluegrass, and indie pop songs for more than 20 years. His debut album, Plural, features some of his most recent songs and was released in September 2015; the album is available now here from cdbaby and on iTunes.

Drawing inspiration from great songwriters who deftly inhabit both folk and rock spaces—such as Neil Young, Warren Zevon, Ani DiFranco, Lou Barlow, and Steve Earle—Plural offers some of Feldman's most recent and accessible songs.

Plural features an array of talented musicians alongside Feldman, including album producer and mixing engineer Chris Kersker (bass and keys) and Alex McGillivray (drums), as well as guest appearances by Jordan Alleman (banjo), JD Williams (mandolin), Raj Vikram Singh (guitar), and Victor Mirallas (tenor saxophone).

In describing his songwriting approach, Feldman says, “Without being formulaic about it, I often wind up thinking in terms of ‘me songs’ or ‘we songs.’ The vast majority of Plural falls into the ‘we’ category, with a central theme being our collective ability to solve the most pressing problems of the day, despite what those invested in the status quo would prefer we believe.”

This marriage of the idealism and humanism of folk with the impatience and rebellion of rock runs through many of Spike Feldman’s songs.
